You can volunteer for a few hours in the morning, a few hours in the afternoon or all day! The google form provides more details.
This year’s theme will be “Just Add Braille to Your Recipe for Success!” Parents and students will focus on ECC skills in the kitchen!

NFB Career Mentoring Program
Virtual modules scheduled for December in hopes that you will refer your transition consumers to our program. Remember that our online mentee application can be found at https://nfb.org/menteeapplication<https://maryland.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=da8f913f82891276e85e5bd03&id=0b4ea8efdd&e=f570d81d7e> but this step should not be an obstacle to consumers joining in to discover what they are all about.
Advocating for Yourself on the College Campus

This module will provide students with strategies to effectively advocate on the college campus to obtain accessible course materials and information and technology, proactively communicate with professors, and navigate college disability services and requests for accommodation. Students will also learn about the importance of strong blindness skills, self-confidence, and blending in as predictors of success, as well as learning about the soft skills important in effective leadership.

Mastering the Job Interview

Santa Letters and Winter Celebration
The National Federation of the Blind works to get more Braille into the hands of blind and low-vision children. We are excited to provide Braille letters and activities to celebrate the holiday and winter season in December. Each letter is part of a fun celebration packet of activities. The celebration packet is accompanied by a print copy for the whole family to participate. Request a Santa or Winter Celebration letter!

Accessibility Tip: Add Alt Text on Facebook Posts from Your Cell Phone
Alt text and image descriptions are not the same thing. An image description is within the post for all to see. Alt text is embedded into the image for people with screenreaders or voiceover to get image informaiton when they select the image. To add image descriptions in Facebook from your cell phone do the following:
1. Upload your image (do not post yet)
2. Select the more button (visually it is 3 little dots)
3. Select Edit Alt Text
3. Write your description (remember to write a concise description. There is no need to write image of. Just start describing)
4. Post your fun memories for all to enjoy!
