Hello All,
We must work on the Access Technology Affordability Act (ATAA)- H.R.
1529/S. 1918. Please ask Senator Van Hollen and Alsobrooks to co-sponsor S.
1918. Please ask your individual Congressman to co-sponsor H.R. 1529 as
well. Therefore, you need to email or call for three asks. We can do this.
Congratulations to us on getting six of the eight congressmen on the
Connect to Health Act! Please make your calls or emails by the end of next
week, December 12th. Here is information that the National office sent us
about ATAA.
Urge the House and Senate to Pass the Access Technology Affordability Act
The National Federation of the Blind urges both the House and Senate to
pass the Access Technology Affordability Act, H.R. 1529/S. 1918. This bill
will help blind Americans afford the high cost of qualified access
technology by creating a refundable tax credit of $2,000 for use over a
three-year period.
Since 2017, we have been working to get a tax credit for the purchase of
qualified access technology for the blind passed into law. We believe that
this would help blind Americans to better handle the high cost of access
technology that we need in order to be able to search for, apply for, and
maintain steady and fulfilling employment.

The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland knows that blindness is
not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Everyday we raise
the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
