2025 Regional Abacus Bee


DEADLINE TO REGISTER: SEPTEMBER 22

Registration for the 2025 Regional Abacus Bee Competition is now open! The
Abacus Bee is a national competition for children in grades 2-12 who are
blind and low vision that asks them to solve equations without the use of a
calculator or scratch paper/written computations, whether they use an
abacus, manipulatives, finger math, or mental math. Remember, the Abacus Bee
is NOT just for braille readers and abacus users!

4 testing dates will be held throughout the month of November, listed below.
Students should attend only ONE testing date, for which they must be
pre-registered. There are both competitive and non-competitive levels. 

*	November 1: 1-4:30 pm in Hagerstown, MD (Library)
*	November 4: 3:30-7 pm in Chevy Chase, MD (Library)
*	November 6: 9 am to 12:30 pm in Chestertown, MD (Library)
*	November 7: 9 am to 12:30 pm at The Maryland School for the Blind
(Knefely Gym)

Regional Awards will be given out on December 7, 2025 at The Maryland School
for the Blind as part of our Family Holiday Celebration. Any MD students
that qualify for the national competition will receive financial support in
order to attend the Abacus Bee National Finals in February, 2026 in
Louisville, KY!
