Howdy Students!
I hope all of you had a great time celebrating the beginning of Blind Equality and Achievement Month (BEAM)! It is now time to get the message out there to both educate and collaborate! To give a quick recap, the National Federation of the Blind of Michigan is conducting a fundraiser to create the space for an active Sports and Recreation division that provides opportunities for blind Michiganders to interact with other affiliates in national health and wellness activities. Part of this goal is to raise funds to support our goal ball league that is in development. Please take the time to check out some quick bios about our four teams, their owners, and their message to blind people:
Team Name: The Marauders
Team Leader Name: Mike Powell (President, National Federation of the Blind of Michigan)
The Marauders houses all of the experience in this league. Blind people have been making progress in the state of Michigan because of strong leadership. Don't be a follower when you can be the key to our affiliate's success. Be a leader and pledge your support to our team!
Team Name: The Sparks
Team Leader: Jennifer Kennedy (Executive Director, BLIND, Inc.)
It is my belief that good training and skills can be the spark to a successful life and a life of fulfillment for blind people everywhere. Join The Sparks and prove to all people that like good training, a good team can be the key to you living the life you want!
Team Name: The navigators
Team Leader: KaShonia Graham (Detroit Chapter, National Federation of the Blind of Michigan)
As we move our way through life and time seem dark, don't worry about the challenges because our team navigates through it all. Join the navigators and support the journey!
Team Name: The Chunky Chargers
Team Leader: Robert Parsons )Board Member, National Federation of the Blind of Michigan)
I think it is obvious that sports and fitness has not been friendly to everyone. The Chunky Chargers is here to prove that with love, hope and determination, we can accomplish anything, even if you hate sports and are chunky like me! Let's go build the Federation!
Prizes
It would not be a Federation event if we did not offer prizes for competitors. This year, we have received generous donations from various partners that are excited to see Michigan's blind become more active. Our prizes have been designated for both donors and team owners for their efforts. There are also prizes that are designed for specific fundraising benchmarks that have been reached. They are:
1. Visio 55-inch Television (Awarded to the Team Owner that Raises the Most Money)
2. Gourmet Chocolate Cheesecake (Awarded to the Donor that Pledges the Most Money)
3. Echo Dot Speaker (Awarded to the Donor Whose Pledge Brings the Fundraiser Total Past $100)
4. Gourmet Chocolate Dipped Strawberries (Awarded to the Donor Whose Pledge Brings the Fundraiser Total Past $500)
5. Google Nest Speaker (Awarded to the Donor Whose Pledge Brings the Fundraising Total Past $1000)
Remember, we need your help sharing this fundraiser link and message. We would also appreciate any support or pledges you are able to get for our four teams. Each pledge is only $5, you are able to pledge to multiple teams, and you are able to pledge multiple times to a team. Click the link for the form below to also read about the prizes that are available for donors and participants. We look forward to working with you all to make this a successful fundraiser.
