The MIABS Mosaic Vol. 4.1
April 5TH, 2026
Message from the president: Jeffery Crouch
Greetings fellow federationists,
I would like to start off by saying happy Easter to those who celebrate and happy spring to all. Spring has arrived in the mitten state. The weather is beginning to warm, rain is falling in preparation for the beautiful flowers that will come in May and like those flowers, MIABS is growing into a beautiful movement. I am so proud of the work that we have accomplished thus far and the amazing things we will do in the future. We had a very successful Midwest Seminar, our fundraising efforts have been extremely fruitful and our members are becoming more engaged with the work we do in the federation.
We have been extremely active and I'm excited for everything that we will unveil throughout the month of April.
So, let's dive in to this weeks addition of the Mosaic. As always, if you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to email them to

Advocacy
Our advocacy committee started off strong in the month of March. We have begun a new initiative to address various concerns with a community college on the east side of the state. We hope that with our lived experience, knowledge and determination, we can effect change to make the experience for blind students even better. We hope that this will serve as a model for future college advocacy efforts. If advocacy is something you are passionate about, I encourgae you to reach out and join our advocacy committee. Check the calendar of events below for our meeting day and time.

Fundraising
Very soon, we will be kicking off a new fundraising event. We have connected with Dipp'd candy to sell some tasty sweet treats. From various dipped apples, to gourmet chocolates and even something for guidedogs, we are sure that you will find something to satisfy that sweet tooth. More details will be coming soon from our treasurer and fundraising chair Danielle Agajan. So, keep an eye out for that.

In Conclusion
Thank you for reading this addition of the MIABS Mosaic, please keep your eyes out for next weeks Mosaic from Steven Crouch who will be discussing everything communications related. Until then, join us for our various meetings that are coming up and let's go build the federation!
The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
Sincerely,
Jeffery Crouch
