The MIABS Mosaic- Vol. 3.1
March 1ST, 2026
Message from President Jeffery Crouch
Greetings fellow federationists,
The month of March is starting off strong for the student division. We had a great February, and we are excited for what this new month will bring for the students here in Michigan. As March is the time when we set our clocks forward and spring officially begins, I am reminded that the work of the federation is never complete. Our priorities may change from year to year but the fight for equality, opportunity and security never stops. So, as we move into this spring season, take some time to reflect on where we have been as blind people, where we are now, and what work still needs to be accomplished. Let’s continue to grow, learn, advocate, and work together to build the federation.

Midwest Regional Student Seminar
Midwest Seminar is just around the corner. In just two short weeks, our awesome Michigan student division will be taking over Chicago for a weekend of learning, networking and fun. We have 13 representatives attending this year and I couldn’t be happier. I know that our division will do an amazing job of representing our Great Lakes state. Encase you missed it in Danielle’s monthly wrap up; we are proud to announce that anyone who applied for MIABS funding assistance to attend Midwest Seminar has been paid for in full!
Announcements
Special Elections
Just a reminder that in the month of March, our division will be holding two one hour business meetings. They will be on March 7TH and March 8TH from 3:30PM to 4:30PM. We will be reading our constitution twice and proposing an amendment to the constitution to add board member positions back in. So, you definitely don’t want to miss these meetings as this is a chance for your voices to be heard. We look forward to seeing you in the meetings.

In Conclusion
Thank you for taking some time out of your day to read this newsletter. We truly value and appreciate you. For those attending Midwest Seminar, we will see you in just a couple of short weeks. For those who are not attending, we look forward to seeing you on any of our committee meeting calls or at the members meeting at the end of March.
Join Secretary Steven Crouch next weekend where he will fill you in on everything communications related.
Let’s go build the federation!
The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
Sincerely,
Jeffery Crouch
