Hi Dave,
If you can use a snow shovel, you should be able to use a snowblower. You push it along in front of you and make sure the spout is pointed where you want the snow to go. Get the kind that actually throws the snot dome distance. Electric power shovels are not worth much. Get a gas powered 3 1/2 horsepower machine.

>> What a pretty puzzle, Dave. First cogitation: I wonder why you couldn’t treat the blower machine like pulling a nonelectric lawn mower? As tall as the snow banks are on each side of your sidewalk, surely it is easy to feel where the sidewalk must be hiding under new snow. But I don’t know whether one hand has enough strength or control to pull a snowblower if the other is using a cane. Plus, using your foot against the side wall will collapse snow from the embankment onto your sidewalk. And I don’t know if the mechanics work if one is pulling the snowblower. Who do you know that will let you experiment (but I hope not this week in the extreme cold). Alternatively: Having a rope shoulder-high to feel (but could you when in a winter coat?) and keep you on the straight path would let you go straight ahead with a snowblower to clear a sidewalk. Then what would signal you to stop? Are there curves? Yup. A pretty puzzle. Umm, Good luck! Any tips or experiences would be appreciated, or is this something I shouldn't do. Gas versus electric? etc.??? > > Dave >
