Missouri School for the Blind is holding a Braille Challenge, February
18, 2010, and would like to invite your Braille reading students to
participate.  The Braille Challenge, sponsored by the Braille Institute,
is an academic contest for Braille readers.  The student can demonstrate
his/her Braille skills, depending on grade level, in the areas of
spelling, reading comprehension, proofreading, speed and accuracy, as
well as charts and graphs.  This is a contest, not a test.  It is meant
to be enjoyed and serve as a reward for the skills and the hard work of
our Braille readers.

For more information regarding the Braille Challenge, go to MSB's
website at http://www.msb.k12.mo.us/.  In order for your child to
participate, a permission form and an application form must be completed
and mailed/faxed to MSB no later than January 14, 2010, Attn:  C.
Klevorn.  Applications and permission slips can be downloaded from the
MSB website.

Each participant must provide his/her own Perkins Brailler (the older
model, only), tape recorder, and headphones, as MSB has a limited number
available.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact Chris
Klevorn at 314-776-4320 ext. 150 or cklevorn at msb.k12.mo.us.

The staff at MSB is looking forward to this contest and hopes all of our
Braille readers will take advantage of this opportunity to show off
their Braille skills.
