Dear Minnesota Federationists,

Here are a few more details about the semiannual convention. First, a reminder that we need a count of how many lunches will be required , so if you have not already called or sent in a lunch reservation, please do so right away. Reserve a lunch by calling 612-872-9363 or sending an e-mail to sstarnes at blindinc.org. Be sure to indicate which type of sandwich you would like, (turkey or ham), and whether you would like cheese or not.

In addition to the sessions on various important topics, here are some more details/opportunities that will be available at the convention (and there will be even more to come):

Carrying Cases for Sale:

Our seniors' division is selling cell phone cases for just $10 apiece. These handy cases are quite versatile and can be used to hold any number of small electronic devices or anything else that is about the size of a cell phone. They're even a perfect size to carry around an iPod while listening to it. Be sure to check them out and pick up one for yourself!

And Speaking of iPods:

The Minnesota Association of Blind Students will be selling raffle tickets-the lucky winner of the raffle will be the proud owner of an iPod Touch®! Tickets cost $6 for one, and $10 for two. The tickets will be available for purchase at the convention only. Buy yourself some chances to win, or buy some for any of your "iPodless" friends!

Chair Massages:

May Vang, who is one of our members and is a student at BLIND, Incorporated, will offer chair massages at select times during the day. All proceeds go toward the important work of our NFB adjustment-to-blindness training center, BLIND, Incorporated.

Hand-Made Jewelry Boxes:

Jim Cecil, an officer of our Central Minnesota Chapter, makes beautiful hand-made wooden boxes and has donated a pair of them to auction off for our affiliate at the convention. Here's what he says about them:

"They are made from solid pecan wood and are finished in the natural color. The ladies box has a removable tray and the man's box comes without a tray. The color of the boxes is a light golden yellow color with the graining a bit darker in color. The ladies and man's box are the same size in width and length at 7 inches x 10 inches. The ladies box is 6 and 3/4 inches deep while the man's box is 5 and 3/4 inches deep. These dimensions are outside and are not exact."

Braille, Braille, Braille:

In addition to the afternoon sessions listed in the original convention notice, there will also be a meeting of the Minnesota Association to Promote the Use of Braille. Information, games, and other practical activities pertinent to braille will be on the agenda.

There's much more, so don't miss the semiannual! Here is a link to the original notice: http://members.tcq.net/nfbmn/convention.html
