July 2022 At Large Chapter Minutes





The At Large Chapter of the National Federation 
of the Blind of Minnesota was called to order by 
Present Dave Andrews at 7:05 PM on 07/17/2022

Minutes from meeting on 06/19/2022 were approved as read.



Stephen Larson and new attendee Ron Poire briefly 
presented background information on himself, 
Questions/comments were posed by chapter members following their presentation.

Several members of the At Large chapter attended 
the NFB National Convention, either in-person in 
New Orleans or remotely. This was the first 
in-person convention since 2019, and those in New 
Orleans reported that it resembled previous 
gatherings before the pandemic despite the COVID 19 outbreak.



Ø  Over 1,400 members attended remotely, while over 2,500 attended in person.

Ø  Minnesota’s in-person delegation was about 75 
percent of its size as the 2019 convention

Ø  The convention passed an amendment to the NFB National constitution.

Ø  All resolutions brought to the convention 
passed, including a policy statement on the effectiveness of audio description.

Ø  All who attended in-person seemed to enjoy the festivities at the banquet





Following this discussion, several members 
discussed various types of braille related 
issues,  including braille transcription/ translation software.

Other business:



Elections of chapter officers were held with the following results:

Ø  President, Dave Andrews

Ø  Vice-President, Dale Heltzer

Ø  Secretary, Rocky Hart All officers will serve a one year term.





Dave revisited the issue of playing the 
presidential release at chapter meetings and 
asked whether it should be played following 
adjournment of the monthly meeting  via the Zoom 
platform or simply listed as a link in the 
chapter minutes for that meeting. Consensus was 
that the link to the release is to be listed in the minutes.



Jeff Kubas asked several technology related 
questions which chapter members were able to answer.

There being no other business, the meeting adjourned at 8:10 PM
