Applications are due by Friday, May 17 at 11:59 pm Central Daylight Time. The National Federation of the Blind convention will be held July 3-8 at the Rosen Centre Hotel, 9840 International Dr, Orlando, FL 32819. Learn more about our National Convention <https://nfb.org/get-involved/national-convention> .
Each year, the National Federation of the Blind of Minnesota Board of Directors authorizes the president to offer funding for members who wish to attend the National Convention and need financial assistance in order to do so. Preference is given to those who have never attended our National Convention before, but members who have previously attended the National Convention are also eligible to apply.
In order to receive assistance, applicants must:
1. Be a member in good standing of the National Federation of the Blind of Minnesota. (Note: Membership is not a requirement for those who are new to participation in Federation activities.)
2. Attend all general sessions, the national board meeting, the banquet, and at least three special interest or committee meetings.
3. Fulfill post-event activities, such as writing an article or delivering a presentation to your local chapter about your experience and activities conducted during our National Convention.
4. Submit any and all receipts for reimbursement within thirty (30) days after returning from the National Convention; sooner is preferred.
5. Agree to read and abide by the National Federation of the Blind's Code of Conduct.
6. Submit the application <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScxmN6qzznDB9RAA3e5vq5SHXMtLVMcRYH7Nr6SSBgJB58QBg/viewform> no later than May 17, 2024 at 11:59 pm Central Daylight Time.
Airfare: While departure from, and return to Minnesota are preferred, exceptions, such as for students attending college or interning out of state, may be considered at the discretion of the State Affiliate President and the Financial Assistance committee.
Food and Incidentals: For those receiving financial assistance for food and incidentals, these funds will be distributed just prior to National Convention by check or pre-paid card.
Note: financial assistance from the National Federation of the Blind of Minnesota may not cover all costs associated with attending the National Convention.
Every effort has been made to make the Google form as accessible as possible, however, we do not want any technical challenges you may be experiencing to be a barrier to requesting financial assistance.
If you encounter any difficulties completing the form, please contact the current Financial Assistance Committee Chair, Steve Sawczyn:
