President O'Connor asked that I convey the following to our list.  Mike
Colbrunn's eight-month-old grandson, Roman Strong, is suffering from
Krabbe's disease. This is a genetic disorder that causes the nervous system
to break down.  From what I have read, children who have this disease
generally do not live past the age of two years, and the symptoms for Roman
are advancing quickly.  Medical costs for treatment run high and usually
involves significant travel away from home.

 

We heard about this situation through another email list but have verified
this with Mike, but please know Mike did not ask us to publicize this
situation.  A GoFundMe page has been established at

which explains their situation as well as providing options to help.

 

Mike is one of our board members and is also very active in the National
Association of Blind Merchants.  He has also served as the president of our
RiverBend chapter for the past several years.

 

On a separate topic, I am writing this because President O'Connor is in the
hospital preparing for a serious surgery.  Let's keep Corbb in our thoughts
and prayers as well.
