In my email from a moment ago, I misspoke on the convention dates-they are October 30 to November 1. Here is a corrected version:

Dear Minnesota Federation Family:

For any who were not able to make it to our August Metro chapter meeting, (or for any who were there but could use a reminder), this is your notice that we will be conducting our statewide essay contest once again this year. The contest winner will receive $75, and there will also be a drawing from all the other entries for a $50 prize. Essays will be considered for publication in the Minnesota Bulletin, our periodic newsletter, and sometimes they get published in our national Braille Monitor magazine as well.

Here's your chance to tell your story ... or someone else's story, with their permission, of course ... or write on any topic that helps raise expectations around blindness.

Please email your essay by October 15 (White Cane Awareness Day) to kayde.dawn at gmail.com<mailto:kayde.dawn at gmail.com>. Our state convention this year takes place from October 30 to November 1, and the essay contest Winners will be announced at the convention banquet.
You have a little over a month. We look forward to reading what you have to say!
