Hi everyone,
I am so excited so many of you will be joining us for the national
convention in Las Vegas. I think this is going to be one of the biggest
conventions we’ve ever had, and I’m glad we’ll have another
Minnesota-sized delegation to represent us.
I have just a couple of notes for you, but before I get into that, I need
your help making sure everyone going to convention is aware of the
content of this email. There are a number of people who have
preregistered, many of them Summer students and staff from BLIND Inc.,
for whom I don’t have email addresses listed. Additionally, it’s possible
that some of you will get this email sent to your junk mail folder, and
some of you won’t read this because reasons. To that end, since you’ve
made it this far, please be sure your friends and colleagues are aware of
the following items:
The convention agenda is now available to browse online, and as always,
it’s jam-packed with info and meetings you’ll want to be aware of. Your
online resource for all things convention is

https://www.nfb.org/get-involved/national-convention. You’ll be able
to get hotel information for first-timers, learn about sessions and
special interest groups, get acquainted with the layout of the hotel, and
more.
All first-time convention attendees are encouraged to attend the Rookie
Roundup, which will be held in South Pacific Ballroom F on Sunday, July
7, from 8:00-9:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our
convention and get to know other first-timers.
Also, on Sunday, BLIND Inc. will be holding our annual Karaoke Night,
which serves as both an opportunity to fundraise as well as to meet
people interested in learning more about our training center. Please come
and support BLIND Inc. from 8:00 to midnight in South Pacific Ballroom
AB.
The Minnesota Caucus, where we will get to know one another and exchange
banquet tickets, will take place on July 9 in Shell Seekers A at 9:00 PM.
I know all of you conventioneers like to be in bed early with absolutely
no late-night fun, so we’ll be as brief as possible. I am looking forward
to meeting you, however, so please attend this meeting.
Banquet exchange is the process by which we take the tickets we get in
our registration packet and hand them to a central coordinatorHi Judy
Sanders. Judy, in turn, takes all those tickets to the exchange table and
turns them in so we can get tables together. The best place to exchange
your banquet tickets is to give them to Judy at the caucus. If you don’t
catch Judy at the caucus, you can also give them to her in our delegation
during general sessions.
Finally, we will once again be selling our NFBMN coasters with our
3D-printed logo and the text Drink the Drink you Want on them for $5. If
you are interested in carrying some to sell, please let Randi Strunk
know. Randi will also be coordinating our exhibit table shifts this year,
and we need help from everyone to make sure our table is staffed
throughout the convention. If you are interested in taking a shiftplease
be interested in taking a shiftemail Randi at
randi.strunk@gmail.com.
If you have any questions either before or during the convention, you are
welcome to contact me on my cell at (402) 730-4092. Given the hectic
schedule of the convention, I ask that you start with a text message
unless it’s an emergency.
Once again, I’m excited to be gathering with you in Las Vegas in just a
few short weeks. It will be a time to see old friends, make new ones, and
recharge our batteries for the year to come. See you on the strip!
Warmly,
Ryan
