Academy in Minnesota this summer.<br><br>

Hello all, <br><br>

Ā <br><br>

We know that most blind and low-vision students donā€™t receive the

instruction that they need in braille, cane travel, and nonvisual living

skills. For many years, the National Federation of the Blind has hosted

summer academies around the country, and weā€™re excited to host one in

the Twin Cities this summer. We are also eager to work with families

outside the Metro area to coordinate transportation and lodging as

needed. We already have two students registered and more students and

parents filling out applications. <br><br>

Ā <br><br>

The success of this program hinges on you, our members, to serve as

volunteers. Please join me this Wednesday, April 17 at 5:00 PM to learn

what we need from you and what questions you have. The Zoom information

is at the end of this message.<br><br>

Ā <br><br>

Elizabeth Rouse will serve as our teacher, but sheā€™ll need your support

working with students. Among other activities, weā€™ll need volunteers to

help coordinate meals, read braille, talk with families, coordinate

transportation, teach technology, and chaperone field trips. If you have

other ideas about how you can contribute, please write to me at

As a reminder, our program will take place at the Minnesota Waldorf

School (70 County road b, Saint Paul) from July 22 to August 2. <br><br>
