Dave Andrews has asked that I distribute the following information. If you live in the Twin Cities area
and you have a Radio Talking Book receiver, you should have recently received a new receiver in
preparation for the conversion from an Analog to a digital signal. The new radios will receive both
types
of signal but the old radios receive only an analog signal. At the present time, the Radio Talking Book
signal in the Twin Cities area is an analog signal so either type of radio will work. However, the
current plan is to change the Twin Cities signal from analog to digital next Monday, June 25, probably
during the afternoon. If you are still using the old receiver, it will no longer receive a signal after
the conversion has occurred.
If you have not received a new radio and would like to receive one, please contact the Communication
Center right away at 651-642-0885. If you have a new radio already and it is not currently receiving
the
signal, or if you find it stops working next Monday after the signal is changed, please also contact
that
same phone number.
Please note that this change had already occurred in other parts of Minnesota. However, in some cases,
both signals were available for a time. In those cases, the old receivers did work for a
time after the conversion, but this will not be the case for the conversion that is taking place in the
Twin Cities area.
Best regards,
Steve Jacobson
