Frank Babbitt, viola player with the renowned Lyric Opera of Chicago,
presents a solo performance of Dickens' historic 1868 text with live musical
underscore. Historically performed first, by Dickens himself, in a public
reading for the purpose of raising funds for an organization that assisted
those in need. Mr. Babbitt is sharing his acting and musical talents to
benefit BLIND, Inc.'s Buddy Camp Program.
BLIND, Incorporated is a non-profit organization, in Minneapolis,
established to teach the skills blind individuals need to be independent,
employable, and most of all, confident. The Buddy Program is a 3-week
experience for blind children ages 9 to 13 where they learn skills to give
them confidence, independence, and the knowledge that it is okay to be
blind.
"There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and
good humor. No space of regret can make amends for one life's opportunities
misused."
~Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol
