This might sound funny posting this after just posting that I am looking for
lessons but as I said, I know basic rhythm guitar and some leed.
What I do know is the notes on the fret board.
What helped me and might just help some others is if there is a key board
available.
I could not figure out the fret board on my guitar until I started taking a
stab at learning the key board.
I found that thinking about the keys as frets was helpful.
For example on the key board there is no black key between B and C so
consequently those to notes on the guitar are next to each other with no
fret in between and the same with E and F. so in my mind the black key on
the key board represented skipping a frette on the guitar.
For example,
On the A string
B is frette 2 and C is 3 and D is 5. then E and F are frettes 7 and 8 just
like on the key board there is no half step or note in between E and F on
the key board or the guitar.

That is a bit simplified because I am not real strong in music theory and
proper terminology
I think for those of you that have played both guitar and key board this
hopefully should make sense.
I am sure there must be better ways of teaching beginning guitar but I just
thought it would be a good way for a beginner to get a mind picture.

Feel free to make any comments to make this clearer if you like.
