[musictlk] Powered D I box for a bass guitar

Hi all this power band equipment is new to me and I don't yet know any thing
about it but the guys were talking about the system that we are running and
determined that I would need to get a Direct Input box to run between my
bass and the board because apparently after about 19 feet of standard cable
you loose signel.
So really I don';don't need to know all the technicle stuff I just need to
get a Direct Input box and because of the nature of all the rest of the set
up that we are running it needs to be powered.
All I know is that Brents board is fantom power and it can only run all
fantom or none what ever that means and if I don't get a powered unit he
would need to get all new vocle stuff which would be very expensive.
So I probably said way more than i needed to since like I said I am clueless
about all this stuff.
The short and long of my question is does any one have any feed back
concerning Powered D I boxes. brands, price range, rating, where to get a
good deal on one and all that kind of thing. thanks.

 The start up band that i am in is a 50's and 60's  rock and clasic country
We just started practicing about 2 months ago, we have over 80 songs we are
working on and we already have a fair handle on all but about a dozen or
less.
