I remember when I first learned to play flute, I just used the mouthpiece to
make sure that my sound was clean. It takes practice since your mouth is
not directly touching the instrument as it does with other instruments. Keep
that embouchure tight as this is the key to pitch control and a clean sound
across all octaves. Work on developing strong muscles in your embouchure.
Sit up straight as anything less limits breathing control.
