Ah, yes, good point.  Something may have happened to the shielding on your
power cable.  So try another one and let us know if that helps at all.

Well, if the item is putting a 60 cycle hum in its output you must try to
identify the source of the hum.  It could be the device itself, the circuit
it is on, or something else in the area.  You will have to try different
things to isolate the problem.  Check all connections first, reseat
everything.  Remove anything else from that circuit, or the nearby y area
one thing at a time, to see if goes away.  Move it to a different circuit if
you can and see if hum persists.  By juggling things, and process of
elimination you may be able to isolate the problem.  You could also try
different power cords, different cables, etc.
