Hi. I started multi track recording a little over 11 years ago with the
tascam DA88 and then a fostex D16.

While I prefer an anolog mixing desk, moving to sonar really opened up a lot
of doors and gave me a lot more independence in the studio.

Yeah, write me off list if you'd like to chat about gear etc.

Cameron.

Cameron,
I'm a new subscriber to Music Talk. I am a totally blind musician.
I have produced my own CD, mixed and mastered it myself. I play drums,
bass, lead guitar, some keys, and sing. Currently, I reside in Texas. I
run sound for bands, at night clubs and outdoor venues. I am currently
finishing production on a local band's CD. I'm interested in software based
recording, with Screen reader, but haven't moved into that field just yet.
I have used a stand alone, digital 16 track, for quite a while, along with
the TC Electronics finalizer for mastering. Of course, I require sighted
assistance to navigate menu screens to record, mix and master. I recently
found out about a recording software called, Reaper, that is suppose to work
well with Serotek's screen reader, System Access, which I prefer over Jaws.
I'd like to communicate further with you, if you're interested. Thank you.

Hello everybody! I hope you are all doing well.

Please pass this on to anyone who may be interested!

Details on the gear and software I used are near the end of this message.

My new album, "To the outside world" is now available!

You can purchase the album as a physical CD, or, in mp3 format through CD
Baby by following this link:

http://www.cdbaby.com/cameronstrife2

If you'd prefer to order by phone, you can call 1-800-289-6923.

(If you're calling from outside the USA, please be sure to add the country
code +001.)

If you'd like to preview/purchase via Itunes, then please follow this link:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/to-the-outside-world/id412078545

The majority of this album is made up of original solo piano compositions
which I've recorded over the past couple of years. It will be a bit of a
surprise to those who own my first album, "Expressions".

If you don't own Expressions and would like to check it out, please visit:

You can submit an album review on the CD Baby page, or, you can e mail it to
me and I'll post it for you on my web site.

Regarding what I used, here is a list:

Yamaha S90es

ADK rack mount quad core

Motu 896MK3 firewire interface

Art MPA pro stereo tube preamp

Presonus blue tube preamp

Larrivee LV03r acoustic electric guitar

Epiphone les paul standard

Samson Rubicon 5A active nearfield monitors

Sonar 8.5 producer using both JSonar and CakeTalking at various times.

Hypersonic 2

Endorphin free synth

Vox bujex amp sim plug in

This was recorded over a couple years so my gear setup changed a bit during
that time. I recorded the Larrivee direct through the Presonus, and the
Yamaha through the Art, setting moderate tube gain on both. I ran the les
paul direct into the interface and used the amp sim plug listed above. I
decided to use the Yamaha grand piano patch as it sounded better than the
"in the box" piano offerings I had at hand at the time. I happen to think
that the piano patches on the S and Motif series are quite good. The sound
designers at Yamaha do a great job.

I have Ivory 2 now, which is amazing. However, I may still use the Yamaha
piano patches on certain things. I did all of the midi and audio editing in
Sonar, using jfw and the two script packages above.

Chris Smart mastered the album. I highly recommend him! You can check out
his site at:

If anyone has any questions about the various stages of a project like this,
feel free to get in touch.

Thanks for reading!

Cameron.
