Hey Ed. Pro Tools 8.0.4 and up is accessible. However, by going to Pro Tools 9, you are able to use any sound card that is core audio compliant. If you have an M Audio device, you could get Pro Tools M Powered 8, which would be the current accessible version of that product. The difference between MPowered and other versions is that MPowered only works with MAudio gear. The other versions of Pro Tools 8 require actual digidesign hardware. So in short, if you already have an MAudio piece, go for MPowered, which will run you about 249 bucks or so. If you don't have an MAudio card, you'll need to go with Pro Tools 9, which is about 599.
