I think Yamaha uses the Hammond B3 sound, also.

Not sure about roland being the only company allowed to use the Hammond
sound. Hammond doesn't license that sound to any company. They themselves
build clones of their own organs in the xk series, and everyone else on the
planet builds b3 and c3 clones all day long and incorporates them into
keyboards and digital pianos. Roland use to manufacture a b3 clone called
the vk8 and vk8m. They no longer make this unit, and we haven't seen
anything from roland in a while in the b3 clone category. Personally, if you
want the best keyboard on the planet that is fully 100 percent accessible,
has the best piano and b3 available, go with the nord stage 2 88. THis
machine is by far the best there is, and has sounds that are so true to
life, it should be illegal. The b3 sounds so good, and the piano and rhodes
are fantastic. Hope this helps.
