oh, i agree with you in that regards. 
 see, we're seeing this from two different angles as we come from different genres. 
 see, i play country twang and christian music and for bgoth of those a need to know how to read music is far from a requirement. 
 now classical, yeah, you should really know music for that. 
 for me however, i am a solo musician who doesn't play in a group. i'm sure you can see the difference here now that i've explained it all. 
 anyway, hope this clears everything up.
