[musictlk] guitar tabs

Hi, Folks,

Mostly, guitar tabs are not about chords: chords you can look up in a thousand places or figure out without any trouble. It's about complex melodic passages high up the neck where you have to puzzle out whether that's an open E, a fifth fret E on the B string or the E on the G string on the ninth fret . Yes, you can figure all that out and it's good practice to do so, but there are all those tabs out there which tell you explicitly how a particular artist made the passage work. It'd be nice to read them. I've always been happy to find the fingerings on classical pieces for guitar written into the music: saves me some time.

I've seen some tabs brailled out once or twice I think, and I thought there was a system for tabs in braille music, but I've never found anything that used it.

And I've never found a good system for taking what's on the web and making it accessible. Anybody else had any success with that?
How about our Dancing Dot friends? Are we missing an archive of hot guitar tabs somewhere?

Sheri
