[musictlk] choir question

Hi all,

My choir experiences have been very similar to Julies in the way of
accomodations. The only time I remember having assistance from
someone in a choir was when I had a pretty tricky part combination,
which my director decided to give me a few days before a concert. I
was singing second soprano, but half way through a medley of songs
from Enchanted I was supposed to bolster the alto line to help the
girls on the part bring it out. Thankfully, one of my friends in the
alto section helped me learn the part quickly so I would be ready to
go.

I find using a binder to be very helpful. I always make sure to put
my pieces in concert order, so that there is no searching for
different pieces required. I simply just flip the page and I'm ready
to go. I also make sure to take note of what the director wants the
ensemble to do with tempo, dynamics, etc, while in rehearsals, so that
in performances it is second nature. I am also an avid user of the
"Music stand as desk" accommodation, and it has always worked well
until I reach the point where I have memorized my pieces and no longer
need it. Honestly, if you can be off-book by the time the concert
comes around and don't need the music stand, I think that would
simplify things a lot and allow you to participate more independently.
