I'll be using a program called Granulab for this project, but its sliders are not labelled well. Therefore I made JFW scripts which take you to the right sliders. If you're interested but are not using JFW, I'll just have to take the extra time to go through, slider by slider, and explain what each does and apologize for the dev's poor labelling over and over lol.
> So for the PC side of things, we have Goldwave, Audacity, and Granulab for sound synthesis. For the iOS platform, the promary sound creation/synthesis tools are Thumbjam, (sampling not synthesis,) and Alchemy Studio, with a bunch of other smaller additive synthesizers which, though not very good, can give us a few extra sounds. Fortunately, the number of music generation and composition apps that are accessible on iOS are quite numerous, and range from things like Garage Band, which is directly based on user input, to Noatikl, which uses a set of rules to generate its own music. The variety is, in other words, quite stunning. Therefore, I can say quite confidently that if all you have at home is a PC and a keyboard, you've got a decent studio, while if all you have is an iPhone you have a very good one. Put them together and you have something better still: the ability to produce just about any sound you want, and the ability to play those sounds musically or incorporate them into music or audio drama. Once I get a mac, there will be yet again new worlds to explore, but that door has not yet opened for me.
