[musictlk] question about sending music

Hi All,
Before I ask this question I just wanted to say that I do not 
want to do anything illegal and if the answer is no I won't do 
it.
I know that you can't send music to others by e-mail as that 
could get you in trouble, but is it okay to send the music to 
yourself as backup?
For example, let's say that I lost the song "Space Oddity", then 
I could just go into my e-mail and retreive it.
Thoughts? I know this could start another controversial debate 
but would still like to know opinions.
