Dear All,

 

I am passing along the information below on behalf of our customer and
fellow literacy advocate, Brunhilde Merk-Adam and her colleagues at Braille
Beats.  They use our accessible notation software and, I believe, Richard
Taesch's braille music courses.  I've heard that Braille Beats is a fun and
worthwhile program and, one of these years, I'm going to get out there to
visit. 

  

Braille Beats is held in Lapeer, Michigan, in June.   From what I can tell,
their focus on the arts is broader than my own Summer Music Academy program
at Enchanted Hills where we exclusively focus on reading, writing,
recording, and performing music.  Since our Summer Music Academy which is
held near Napa, California, is scheduled for the first ten days of August
and Braille Beats camp meets in June, you could even attend both!  The
common denominator is certainly the emphasis on literacy and independence.

    [Specially designed for blind and low vision students ages 8 through
post-secondary]

2016 Summer Residential Intensive:     June 18 - 26.
Music - Art - Movement - Mobility (Navigation) - Independence Skills

Held at the Lion's Bear Lake Camp in Lapeer, Michigan
 Spaces limited.    APPLICATION required. 


MUSIC: Music Theory, History, Solo & Ensemble Performance, Keyboarding,
Music notation and Music braille, Rhythm & Ear             Training, Vocal,
Choir and more. 

ART: Exploration of various art styles & media. 

MOVEMENT: Spatial orientation, flexibility, breathing and relaxation.

NAVIGATION,  INDEPENDENCE SKILL development and FUN! throughout the program.
