[MusicTlk] a question long-time coming

Lauren,
I am sure someone will be able to shed more light on this than I;
however, I know the hallmark song, "Live the Life You Want" was written by
J.D. and I apologize I cannot remember his last name. He lives in Nashville
and is a very talented singer/songwriter. I had the pleasure of working with
him during the 2016 convention, performing for the bash they had during the
convention. The lead singer on this song is not a woman; it is James Brown,
president of the NFB of Tennessee and a member of our national board of
director. I believe the Braille song was written and performed by J.D., as
well. Perhaps others can offer more insight to the artists on the album.
Fraternally yours,
Marion

characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise
expectations because low expectations create barriers between blind people
and our dreams. You can live the life you want! Blindness is not what holds
you back.

Hi,
I have no idea why this has taken me so long to ask but I am listening to
the NFB's 75 anniversary cd and feel kind of sad that I have no idea who is
singing and playing on here. Back in the day, we knew who the pro and
not-so-pro musicians were in the NFB, who were at convention anyway. But who
are all of you on here?
I remember at the 75 convention, which I was able to attend, when talking to
someone about "Live the life you want" I said that "he" was really good
singing it. Someone said "she." Huh? No one ever said who it was. I think
there was a reason, a good one, not to spotlight certain people; however,
years later, I'd like to know. I bet most of those people are on this list.
I also wonder what about the songs in the contest that didn't make it. My
sister and I did one but we aren't techy about recording music, so our
below-standard version of our song may have helped us not make it. But it is
a bummer that it is lost in oblivion somewhere. I remember we were both sick
at the time so that's why our song probably sounded sick, hahaha. I'm
curious about the other songs that didn't make it. Oh well, it was fun
PURRticipating and I am proud of this cd. It is a true gem. So tell me who
is on it.
Thanks,
Lauren Merryfield
