Dear Shanon,
I hope you are having a wonderful day today. Thanks for asking these types of questions. I am sure someone in here could be helpful.
I would tell you, the straight up answer, though it's all not just bad news. Braille notetakers currently do not offer the ability to directly work with Braille music. As in, supporting the ability to translate to and from Braille music, or playing content from Braille music, ETC. Both the Braille Sense Polaris, and the Braille Note Touch+, the two most mentioned rivals, support the ability to open, read and write in the .BRF file format.
In my Braille Note Touch, I could just open an app to write BRF file, and create a new file with Braille music in it, for instance, and edit it to my heart content, but of course cannot translate or musically edit the file.
I have found that apps like MuseScore, and the SM music reader for android are either inaccessible or too complex for using with my Braille Note.
If you'd like a more Windows accessible, efficient way to do this, the El Braille note taker from Freedom scientific might be what you'd like. Essentially it runs under Windows 10, and the device comes preloaded with a Focus 40 / 14 5th generation display, supported upon an Intel pocket PC. Then you can run apps like Lime Aloud, MuseScore (which is free) and musically edit content, if that's what you like. If you just want the ability to quickly just write Braille music manually and on the spot without bells and whistles, the Orbit Reader Braille Display or Braille Pen might be useful as they are just Braille displays that have the ability to generate standalone Braille files. And they are cheaper.
Hopefully I have offered helpful options for you. Feel free to ask me more questions if you so desire.
Have an awesome day and please take care and stay healthy.
Warm Regards,
Humberto

Hello,
I'm just curious as to which braille notetakers will read braille music
notation? I'm looking at software such as Dancing Dots, and MuseScore (app
and website) as well as Symphony for iPad and am interested to know if there
is a particular braille notetaker that will read more of the software. I'm
looking at a notetaker for portability reasons over a braille display. Any
information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Shannon
