Robert,

This can be easily accomplished using Reaper. It is available for a
60-day free trial but that is on an honor system; I played with it for more
than a year to make sure it was accessible and it is with no special
software. The purchase price is also a great deal at $65 compared to Sonar
which runs in the hundreds and requires CakeTalk for another fee. Reaper is
just as powerful as any other high-priced DAW. If you would like to learn
more about Reaper, feel free to write to me off-list at
<marion.gwizdala at verizon.net>. Anyone else interested in learning more about
Reaper is welcome to get in touch as well!P

Subject: [MusicTlk] Newbie question: how to combine mp3 tracks

Hello:

I have a friend who has recorded some .mp3 tracks of guitar music. I
want to add flute to the tracks. I am a PC user and by profession a computer
programmer and access technology specialist. I do not know much about music
software. If I record the flute on a separate .mp3 track, is there a way to
combine the two tracks, or is there a way to hear the guitar and play the
flute creating one track? Thank you and have a great day.

Regards,

Robert
