The advantage of the audio interface is if you wanted to say play and sing at the same time, you can record them to two independent tracks. Where as with a mixer. That sends the stereo output to the computer you will have to record each track one at a time if you want the voice and instrument on separate tracks. Also an advantage to a 4 input device is now you can plug your keyboard in in stereo and plug in a mic and still have a free input. However I don’t know if you plan to use your piano’s onboard sounds or if you plan to use it as a MIDI controller for sounds inside the computer. Either way yes, all of those have buttons and knobs and should be fairly straight forward to get up and running its just a matter of what price point you feel comfortable diving in at. And of course what’s not out of stock and currently available.

Only really need to win in to out, but may go for a four in for out just to have some expandability. Lou, I have the exact same mixing board! It seems to do a pretty decent job. Yes I can use that to feed the music into the computer, right? Anyway, thanks for the suggestions!

>> Hey Rob,
>> Welcome to the journey, What?s your budget and how many inputs would you like? For accessibility your best bet will probably be an audio interface with the computer and a program like reaper. Standalone 4 track recorders aren?t that accessible as far as I know.
>> For no Frills, best bang for the buck I?d recommend the Behringer UCM202HD if you are fine with 2 inputs/Outputs, or the UCM404HD if you?d like 4ins/outs. The Audient Evo 4 (2in/out) and Evo 8 (4in/out) is another good inexpensive option.
>> Other options include the SSL 2 or SSL2+ or the MOTU M2 (2in/out) or M4 (4in/out).
>> Good luck and let us know if you have any questions.
