Just sharing a blurb from this mornings news on the
latest changes in shoppers' payment capabilities --
which will soon affect every business:
"Competition for consumer payments heats up. The battle
over the way people make payments is intensifying, with
Google (GOOG) set to introduce a system tomorrow that
will enable shoppers to pay for goods at store
checkouts with phones instead of credit cards.
Retailers in the new program include Macy's (M),
American Eagle (AEO) and Subway, while Mastercard (MA)
is also involved. Meanwhile, Bank of America (BAC),
JPMorgan Chase (JPM) and Wells Fargo (WFC) have formed
a JV called clearXchange to take on PayPal (EBAY) by
allowing consumers to use their checking accounts to
send each other money using an email address or a
cellphone number. At stake are billions of dollars in
credit-card, overdraft and checking fees each year."
Strive On!
