[nabop] Invitation to Participate in a Research Study

Steve Kurutz, a student in the Master of Science in Information Technology Management program at Regis University, is conducting a study entitled Online Social Networking Systems as a Professional Enabler for Persons Who Are Blind.  In this exploratory study, the Mr. Kurutz will collect survey information from persons who are blind concerning their use of technology and their work.  Using this data, Mr. Kurutz will look for trends and relationships between technology usage (especially that of online social networking systems) and professional achievement.

The study stands to benefit the body of knowledge by exploring the potential of online social networking to reduce social stigma and provide career growth opportunities.  Evidence of a relationship between online social networking systems usage and professional growth for persons who are blind may prompt further research to determine how these technologies can be adapted to better serve the needs of persons who are blind.

Participants will take a 30-minute survey online, or at a participant's request verbally by telephone.  Following are the criteria for participation:
*        Be functionally blind or legally blind.
*        Have completed at least some college studies (completion of degree is not necessary).
*        Be presently employed or actively seeking employment.
*        Not be presently enrolled as a student at Regis University.
Being an active user of online social networking systems is not necessary.
