The Apple Nano 4th Generation along with the most recent version of 
iTunes will produce speech on the ipod.  You will also need the most 
recent versions of JAWS or Window-Eyes to get this stuff to work best.

iTunes generates speech from your computer and transfers it to the 
Nano for playback, apparently.
