It is possible to carry a purse or reasonably sized bag on my dog arm--and I 
am fairly short and don't have much arm space to work with. On the other 
hand, a rolling bag is an option for carrying a significant amount of stuff. 
Another option is to use a small digital recorder and take notes later. This 
would be more time-intensive but would eliminate the need to carry a laptop 
if your laptop is heavy.
