Hello all,
This will be my last post on this topic as you all have largely convinced my that using the perks under discussion are indeed bad for the blind community. However, I do have one final argument to make on this subject, and it relates back to the free national park pass for disabled persons.
First, I would like to clarify something, the goal of the free national park pass is not to pay for disabled persons to enter our national parks simply because they are disabled, thus inherently poor and unable to pay their own way. The goal of the free national park pass is to encourage disabled persons to utilize our national parks. Viewed in this light, a free national park pass is no different from one of Joe Orozo's grants. Joe's company manages grants that encourage (and fund) specific behaviors, and via a free national park pass, the federal government is doing exactly the same thing.
Thoughts?
Jim
