Actually...  I've used a flat-top stove before, the only thing I had  
to do is turn on the burner I wanted to use and then just put my hand  
over the pot.  Not directly on it, bt just where I could feel the heat  
from the burner and if it felt centered with the pot, I was good.  I  
would determin this by moving my hand in a circle around the pot.
