Hi Sarah, 
Are you currently at a University or college? Two of the most underutilized tools in colleges are the career services center and writing labs. I'd suggest making appointments at one or both of these places and have them give you as much advice as possible for your first draft. Once your first draft is done schedule as many appointments as needed until they tell you that you need no more help from them and that you have a stunning cover letter that every boss would want to have on their desk.
