I suppose, but not all work places are the same, and I suppose it will
depend on what you intend to do. I know that in my workplace, I'll be
regularly interacting with administrators, colleagues, students, lab
assistants, and members of the community, and especially with colleagues,
I'll want to feel like I'm on friendly terms with everyone and can enjoy
working with them. I'm working in a Visual Information Processing lab right
now, and the professors in the lab hold monthly lab socials for all the
profs, grad students and undergrads that work there. they also have retreats
holiday activities, and enjoy each others company outside of school and
work. The idea is that a lab team made up of people who can enjoy healthy
social activity with their colleagues, they'll have a happier, more
productive time collaborating on research.
