Ashley,

When unsure of what a course covers I usually do one of two things.  I
ask the professor(if I know them) about it and get a sense of what is
required.  The other thing if it is possible and I have friends who
have taken the course I ask them how it was.  Do you know anyone at
your school who has taken this course before?  When trying to get a
sense of the work load it is best to ask someone who has dealt with
the course.
