[nabs-l] Backing up BrailleNotes. Questions About GettingNewLaptop

Hi, Anjelina,
As others have mentioned, the Braille Note takes a compact flash
card, a SD card, or a USB flash drive, so you can copy your data onto
any one of those storage devices. For regular documents, I find
copying folders and files using the File Manager most efficient, but
the Back Up function under Utilities Menu is particularly handy when
you have to back up data files such as entries in your address book or
email messages-- You have to back up the KeyList and Keymail folders
in their entirety as the data are stored in hidden files that do not
automatically show up in File Manager. I admit that this is perhaps
one of the trickiest aspects of KeySoft so feel free to let me know if
you have any specific questions as well!
One note of caution: Yes, it is a good idea to copy your files
regularly onto external storage, but don't create/edit files directly
from an external drive or storage card. For some reason, the Braille
Note has an unpredictable tendency of erasing the entire document when
you exit KeyWord if you are editing from somewhere other than the
Flash Disk, and i have lost huge chunks of information that way. It is
possible that they have fixed this bug in the Apex though. Hope that
helps!
   Katie
