This is a FYI for all iDevice users... some of these apps sound
really cool, thought you might want to check them out. By the
way, they are mostly if not fully accessible with VoiceOver and
most if not all buttons are tagged. There is information about
the accessibility of each app and accessibility comments after
each app's description. With all that said, here's all the
information:

== Spanish English Dictionary + ==

http://www.applevis.com/app-directory/travel/spanish-english-dict
ionary
   (from AppleVis - Recent Content)

Description of appTHis is a VO friendly Spanish-ENglish
dictionary with easily toggled translations and some interesting
features. It contains 263,000 translations / definitions, a
small selection of commonly used phrases categorized, a
conjugated verb reference, and a basic quiz engine. All of those
features are fully VO accessible and are accessed via a properly
labeled set of buttons along the bottom edge of the screen. The
dictionary is stored locally on the i-device so an Internet
connection is not required during general use of the app except
in cases where you wish to hear the words pronounced by a voice
other than those supplied in IOS. . If you want to hear the
words
pronounced in the native tongue you have two options: 1. Use the
rotor to toggle between languages,or 2. Make an Internet
connection and click on any of the buttons labeled "speaker.gif"
which are found throughout the app.
This app allows the User to add text, photos, videos and voice
recordings to a word directly from within the word's page in the
app. For instance, if I select the word "dog" (translated as the
Spanish "perro"), I am presented with a row of mostly
understandable buttons along the bottom of the screen labeled
"microphone, play, camera, browse image, email and add text." I
can use these buttons to record my dog barking (which she never
does), take a photo of her and add it to the definition, browse
and add an image from another location, email the definition or
type additional text that will be attached to the definition.
These options all use standard IOS controls to do their thing
with one exception: The microphone button presents the only quirk
I've found so far in this app, and I've explained a workaround in
the accessibility comments section below.
You can find a fully VO accessible introduction to the
application by choosing More / Help from within the app.
This app costs US $9.95 at the time of this writing (29Oct2011)
and there is a free version that offers most of the same features
but has a much smaller dictionary.
Version5.1.5Free or PaidPaidCompatibilityThis is a universal app,
so works natively on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPadDevice(s) app
was tested oniPhone 4iPad 1Accessibility CommentsThe app is
well-labeled and navigable using standard VO gestures. The one
issue I encountered is when attempting to create a voice
recording from within a definition by using the button labeled
"microphone." Choosing this button causesVO to go silent and it
is difficult to get out of the scenario. The workaround I found
is to plug in the apple earbuds with inline mic, or a compatible
set, then double-tap the microphone button, then quickly
double-click the center button on the inline mic. This seems to
get VO talking again and allows you to record and choose either
the cancel or done buttons.

use.Other CommentsI must admit this sounds fascinating. While
the
app seems very user-friendly, I have yet to find something to
test this on other than a few games which are not blind friendly.
However, this does not mean there won't be any friendly ideas for
the blind in future developments. There is potential for this to
work if developed correctly. Will keep you posted if I find
anything of use. Also, please feel free to let us know in the
comments below if you have found anything.
I found this article that is worth reading to understand exactly
what this app means and can do.
Article from AppAdvice:
World's First HTML5 Web App Browser Launches Could Be Game
Changer For Developers
What is being called the world's first HTML5 web app browser
launches today in the App Store. The free and universal MobiUs
app provides a way for developers to get apps onto iDevices
without first getting Apple's approval. As such, this could fast
become be a game-changer in mobile app development.
Created by appMobi, MobiUs is really two products in one. First,
it operates as a standalone browser for both the iPhone/iPod
touch and iPad. Second, it works in conjunction with Apple's
Mobile Safari app in a way that will remind many of how browser
extensions work on desktops. What makes mobiUs significant is
what it brings to the table for web app developers. Unlike
standard HTML5, MobiUs lets web apps access all of the hardware
available on iDevices including it's GPS, accelerometer, camera
and more. Best of all, once the app is installed, the iDevice
knows "when" it is needed.
Users won't have to switch from using Safari as their primary Web
browser in order to take advantage of the new functionality, says
appMobi. Instead, when a user encounters a webpage that requires
the capabilities provided by MobiUs, the Web app in question will
prompt you to install the MobiUs iOS app from iTunes. The
experience is similar to how online users are prompted to install
the Flash plugin to watch online videos. Except in this case,
the
additional software is not a browser plugin it's an app.
After the initial installation, any future Web apps
requiring MobiUs' technology will be able to seamlessly switch
over from Safari to MobiUs as need be, without any user
intervention.
Full mobiUs features include:
      * MobiUs lets web apps can access all of the hardware
features of your smartphone.
      * With MobiUs, your web apps will work whether you have
Internet connection or not.
      * MobiUs delivers great game performance with
DirectCanvas technology
      * MobiUs delivers instant push notifications from apps
or
other users
      * MobiUs can speed online purchases with its build in
1Touch wallet
      * Best of all, you don't even have to remember to use
MobiUs once it's installed on your phone, it automagically
springs to life whenever it's needed.
