But when we "have fun" with it, don't we send the message that the
behavior is okay? I'm not suggesting we become combative or rude, but
acting in a manner that will appear as though being blind is indeed an
oddity and something to be stared at has the potential to tell those
staring that it's perfectly acceptable behavior.

I get staired at too but my mom and have fun with it! We feel you have
to
have fun with it because it makes it easyer to deal with!
