[nabs-l] hello

Maybe you could try putting that you're on the list in the
subject line of the email you send to the person off-list. For
example, you might write a subject like this one: "from Joshua
from the NABS list: national convention," if your email was about
national convention. What do you think of this idea?

Also, I send them a notice on the list, so they'll know, that
when I
E-mail them, it's someone from the list.

 Hi Nimer,

I think what happens sometimes is this. This list and all other
NFB lists, as well as most other lists, is set up so that when a
person replies to an email from the list, it goes to the list by
default unless the sender of the email goes back in and changes
the "to" email address. So they reply to the email, hit send,
and don't think about whether their email will be of any meaning
to the list as a whole. It's very easy to do; I do it a lot,
especially when I'm using Outlook on my PC. All I have to do is
hit control r, write the message body, and hit alt s, and it's
sent. A lot of times, I forget to go back in and change the
recipient email address. That's why you see so many emails from
me sometimes, apart from the fact that I'm just an opinionated
and talkative person who finds myself with a lot to say, and
sometimes I just don't shut up! * Smile!

Joshua, I don't care that you're going to email her off list.
 Why
don't you just freaking do it? What's up with these lists and
 meaningless messages anyways?

Laurel, that's awesome about the French and Russian. I too
speak
Russian, as well as Arabic and Hebrew. And I have a wacky black
 lab
named Abbie. If you want to know more, please email me off
list.

  Hi all,
I just joined this list so I wanted to take a moment to
 introduce
myself. My name is Laurel. I am a 20 year old college student
 in the
Dallas, TX area. I study French and Russian. I have a working
 guide
dog named Stockard. Stockard is a female yellow lab from Guide
 Dogs
for the Blind and she will turn 4 in September. We have been a
 team
for 2 years. I hope to get to know all of you well.
