Hi all,
I'd like to back up what Jewel had to say.
I've been using BlackBoard for several years now, and it's always
been
eccessible. If someone is having problems they might want to
check
and see if their screen reader is updated.

Dear list,
I would like to back up what was said about Blackboard being
accessible. I have used it for over a year now (this is my
third
semester using it for all my classes), and the only problems I
have
had were not because of inaccessibility of Blackboard (such as
.PDF
files or inaccessible powerpoints). I also just posted on the
discussion forum for my literature class and using Insert + F7
to find
the links to create a new thread and submit, I had no problem! B
The
latest version of Blackboard, which my college has, is as close
to
accessible as you can get, and is even friendly with headings
and
links. If Blackboard is not working for someone, it may be that
the
school has a previous version of Blackboard. I believe the
latest is
9.1? I happen to love Blackboard for my classes. When a
professor says
"It's on Blackboard" I jump for joy, because it means I have
access to
the same things that other students can access.
My two cents,

Dear all,
Blackboard is user friendly to the blind. I worked for my
college's
blackboard staff for almost two semesters and it is good. The
only
part you may have problems is with the Discussion Board.
However, I
don't know exactly know what version my school is running but I
like
how Jaws navigates around the site.

Have they given a reason why they won't do that? If they are
uploading
things to Blackboard, then they already have electronic copies
of the
documents. Maybe talk to your disabilities office and tell them
what's
going on. They might be able to talk to the professors for you
and
solve the problem.

Patrick,
They are refusing to do so.

Koby,
As far as I know, Blackboard isn't accessible with JAWS. It can
work,
but it's difficult. Newer versions of Blackboard are "better,"
but
that's not saying much. On the other hand, Moodle, which is
similar in
nature to Blackboard, is more accessible. The best workaround
I've
found is to just have your professors e-mail things.

Is blackboard accessible with JAWS? Is there a way to make it
accessible with JAWS?
