Sophie,

Braille translators are the programs which translate an electronic print
document, such as a Microsoft Word file, into a format which can be used by
a Braille embosser. Probably the most popular of these is Duxbury, which you
may have heard of.

You are wrong, there is NFBTRANS and Turbo Braille.  Neither is a perfect
solution, but do work.
