My parents are aware of this. How about disk space and RAM?

> Hi Zach and all, if you're going to get a Mac with a solid-state drive, which is faster than a hard drive, expect to pay more for the higher amount of space. If you're going to get a standard hard drive, you will pay less for that, but you will have to run the risk of hard drives failing at random. This will eventually happen with solid-state, but it is not as random since these have no physical moving parts which is part of the reason why they can run so fast. It should be noted, however, that Apple is starting to move away from the hard drive, so you're going to find more and more Macs with solid-state rather than hard drives. The latest max have good processors, they're quite fast. Depending on what you want, you can either get an A5 or A7 processor. A7 is faster than A5, so depending on what you want, and if speed matters, you may look into either option. It Should be noted, however, that Aseven is more expensive than than A5. I suppose that what it really boils down to is what you're going to be using the computer for. If you're going to be doing a lot of video stuff and podcasting, you may want the speed but if you're going to be doing a lot of web browsing and other such smaller tasks, speed may not be an issue and the price may not be as bad. Be forewarned though, Max are notoriously more expensive than Windows computers, in the thousand dollar range. So just be aware of that.

I have VMware Fusion but it's a pain on the processor. I imagine that parallels would be too. Although I do have a standard hard drive so that could be part of it, as solid-state drives managed to run more quickly. but for me VMware just maxes out my processor so that when I turn on voice over so I can check Skype chats or something it is really really slow.
